Dolores Marlene Olson of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the age of 83 years, beloved wife of the late Donald Olson.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Dwayne (Kendra) Olson, Debra Olson (Mike O’Connor), and Dale (Wendy) Olson; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Jodi (Allen) Hornung and their children, Eben, Bram and Otto, Stacey Martini, Dustin (Cathy) Goldade and their son, Dayton, Mikayla Olson (Jared Noble), Scott Gustavson (Ashley Gill), Regan (Jay) Hogg and their children, Brock and Quinn; as well as her sisters, Leona Marsh, Dagney Vermunt, Audrey (Keith) Bennett, her brother, Garry (Lucille) Kramer, and all of their families.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband, Donald Olson on July 4, 2010; her parents Ferdinand and Ella Kramer; one son Douglas Olson; one granddaughter, Jessica Olson; one grandson, Tyler Gustavson, four brothers-in-law, Lee Vermunt, Joseph Baron, Frank Marsh, and Gordon Sinclair; and sister-in-law Karen Foster. Dolores was born on October 13, 1938 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and spent her youngest years on the family farm. As a young girl the Kramer family moved to Medicine Hat where Dolores obtained her schooling and spent many years helping her parents run the family business, Central Grocery and Meats. She married Donald Olson on August 6, 1960 in Medicine Hat and together they raised four children. Wonderful memories were made enjoying summers full of traveling, camping, fishing, golfing, and playing cards. Dolores had many hobbies and was a very gifted seamstress. She cherished family gatherings, preparing wonderful meals, and handcrafting personalized gifts. Dolores worked as a hairdresser for many years, was also employed at (Dominion) Domglass, and later held many office management jobs in the city. Don and Dolores enjoyed their retirement years working along side their son Dale at his pub Oly’s Alehouse. Dolores enjoyed every minute spent meeting new people, cooking German meals, and socializing with friends and family.
