Derryl Schielke of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26th at St. Joseph’s Hospice after a brave 2 year battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents, Otto and Mary. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Linda; his daughters, Tammy (Brian) Davies, Rhonda Bird and Florence (Trent) Skappak; his grandchildren, Natasha (Phil), Jazmin, Alicia, Joshua and Jadeyn; and great granddaughter, Adalyn; his brothers, Bill and Don (Patti); numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and many life long friends. Derryl was born in Drumheller, AB and later his family moved to Lethbridge, where he completed his education and started his career as a Sheet Metal Mechanic. With his first business in Lethbridge, he operated for many years. With his hard working reputation the demand for his services grew in Medicine Hat, where he decided to relocate, and continued to service the community for 30 years until he retired. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, playing pool, watching football and visiting with friends and family. Derryl’s greatest joys were his grandchildren and great grandchild. As per Derryl’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, if you wish to honour his name, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice at 156 – 3rd St NE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 5M1.
