Delores Agnes Hellman (Biko), beloved wife for 64 years of Robert Hellman, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the age of 81 years. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Jerome (Tammy) Hellman, Roberta (Brad) Stober, Arlene (Brad) Miller, Claudette (Darren) Hoffart, and Jason Hellman; grandchildren, Kiri (Danny) Lister, Kristin (Dylan) Armstrong, Kevin (Laura) Brittner, Jerret (Alyssa) Brittner, Jolene (Shaun) Dunbar, JaraLee (Justin) Schafer, Josh (Mikayla) Miller, Trinity, Magdalene, and Niko Hellman; great grandchildren, Jase and Braxton Lister, Chloe and Jax Armstrong, Nora and Brynn Brittner, Hailee and Brooklyn Schafer, Ava and Max Dunbar, Bridget Miller as well as her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Steve and Frances Biko; two miscarried siblings and one sibling who passed away shortly after birth.
Mom was born on October 2, 1942 at Prelate, Saskatchewan and grew up on the farm at Liebenthal, Saskatchewan. Growing up, she loved to work outside spending time helping her dad in the yard and the fields.
Her love of music won her a few talent shows in her younger days. Mom listened to live music every chance she got. She also played many instruments like the guitar, piano, organ, and the accordion.
Her faith was very important to her; she couldn’t say the rosary enough in a day, she loved “Mary” so much. Medugorje was a very special place in her heart.
One of her greatest joys in life were her grand kids and great grand kids, enjoying every activity she was invited to and was so proud of her family, never wanting to miss anything. Spoiling her grand kids was a pleasure. Every Halloween she would have the kids’ pillowcases full of candy before they went out trick or treating. Every holiday was the same as well, no one left empty handed. Mom loved babies and if there was a baby in the room, she held it.
She enjoyed baking, knitting, doing crafts, gardening and working in her flower beds, also taking great pride working on the farm and in the farm yard, keeping it in tip top shape at all times. Mom looked forward to meeting friends for coffee, especially at Burger King. Her many coffee friends were like the sisters she never had.
No challenge was too great for her, whether it was getting out the ladder to change light bulbs, cleaning windows, or chasing away woodpeckers, and she still enjoyed shovelling snow. Mom enjoyed time in the Cypress Hills every summer as it was filled with fun and family holidays over the years.
In December, she got influenza and it really took a toll on her. However, this past week she was out at the farm in Richmound cleaning and packing up for the farm sale, enjoying every minute out there, completing this task one day before she passed away. Farm life was where her treasured memories were made.
