Deborah Cook
January 25, 1956 ~ April 4, 2022
Deborah Lynn Cook passed away at her home in Medicine Hat on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the age of 66 years. Deb will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Shane and his daughter, Christie; and Colin (Stacie) and their children, Austen, Cody, Wilbur, Amellia and Avery as well as her brother, Calvin (Lea). They say people never really pass away until their name isn’t being spoken anymore. Deborah Lynn Cook; daughter, sister, mom, nana and friend, you’ll be in our hearts forever. Debbie grew up in Medicine Hat as a little spitfire, she loved her Grandmother Mary and admired her cooking, baking and gardening skills but wanted nothing with doing any of that. Although later on she took great pleasure in her yard and the climbing clematis that came back year after year. Debbie was a daddy’s girl and followed in her father’s foot steps as far as having a love for cars and driving…something she shared with her big brother Cal. Her mom, Coral instilled a love of music and gathering friends around. A Medicine Hat girl through and through, Debbie liked nothing better than a good cup of coffee and a view of the prairie. Shane and Colin went on this journey with Debbie as she worked her butt off at the Glass factory, Bingo Halls, into her custodial role at the College and many businesses across town; instilling in them a great work ethic. They’ve inherited her strength and independence. Colin’s relationship with Stacie brought a daughter into her life. Debbie’s life began to sparkle when Shane announced the arrival of Christie and Lexi was born to Colin and Stacie. Just think, two little girls, then came Aaron, Ashney, Amellia and Avery, a house full of energy and love. Deb found a little soul mate in Mia, a little caregiver who stole Nana’s heart. The family shared a true love for all things animal; reptiles top the list in Debbie’s mind. Her passion for snakes has been passed down for sure. Reptile World would be her choice for any vacation. Debbie’s greatest joy were her children and grandchildren. Shane and Colin have grown into strong, talented, hard working Dads. Shane shares Debbie’s love of music and has built a reputation as a fantastic drummer but counts his relationship with his daughter, Christie as his greatest joy. Colin has taken his love of fish and reptiles and built a following of like minded spirits always seeking his professional opinion…in all things aquarium to his skill as a skateboarder, something his Mom has never wavered in supporting, cheering on. The Grandbabies don’t fall far from the tree either, all of them have inherited Nana’s drawing skills and creative energies.Nana was sooo proud of her family; Shane and Colin for their dedication to their children and their passions, Christie for her beautiful artistic spirit, Lexi for her caring, nurturing heart, Aaron for his zest for life and bear hugs, Ashney for her creative, theatrical leanings, Amellia for sharing a love for all things family and animals, Avery for the potential of whatever his energy will be poured into. The family would like to thank all of Debbie’s friends and family, you meant the world to her. Diane, you’ve been a wonderful found sister to Debbie and the family appreciated that so much.
