Daren Terry Sackman of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the age of 53 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Darryl Sackman of Medicine Hat; his sister, Charlene (Mike Befus) Walline of Calgary; as well as two nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Kay Sackman. Daren was born and raised in Medicine Hat. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family throughout the summer. Growing up in the Flats, he enjoyed outdoor hockey and games with his friends and brother. Friends continued to be important to Daren throughout his life. Daren got his break as a cook at the Assiniboia and then later moved on to Caroline’s, where he became the head chef until they closed. He continued on as a chef at a couple of the golf courses, as well as Ralph’s, the Beefeater, and Sidetracked Pub. Daren was an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan and was a master when it came to music. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Nunweiler and the amazing staff of 4 West, in particular nurse Megan. Your care and compassion was truly a blessing. It is good to know there are actual angels on this earth. Thank you from our hearts. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. At the request of the family, please dress casual for the service.
