“Let yourself feel the pride but always stay humble and kind”
Tim McGraw’s words describe the way dad lived and raised us.
Dad was “humble and kind”, a true gentleman who didn’t appreciate a dirty joke, gossip, or foul language. Throughout his recent struggles, he maintained his quiet, kind nature, his love of family, and the twinkle in his eye. He loved gardening, playing cards, being a barber; but mostly being a dad, grandpa, and great grandpa.
His garden gave him hours of enjoyment and he shared his harvest with everyone. You would have a hard time beating him at cards or chess, he was always three plays ahead. It took the sting out of losing when you would hear his little giggle. Dad treasured his clients and friends at the barbershop. He enjoyed visiting and playing a game of chess between haircuts. He loved sports. Growing up the Lewis brothers made quite a name for themselves in the Weyburn area, excelling in both hockey and baseball. He also loved to curl, and he was in the stands for every one of Jason’s hockey games. After retiring, dad spent his winters in Puerto Vallarta where he enjoyed many card games, cervezas, good friends and family. Summers were spent at Cypress Hills where he kept a welcoming fire burning, even if it was hot outside. He left us peacefully, right after his children, grandchildren, and a great grandchild gathered to bid him farewell.
“Visit grandpa every chance that you can
It won’t be wasted time
Always stay humble and kind”
Tim McGraw
