Connie Hansen

1956 ~ 2023

Connie Shirley Hansen (nee Glenn) passed away unexpectedly, but without any pain, surrounded by loved ones holding her hands and a Pastor praying over her as she left her body, on Friday, September 22, 2023. Despite a lifetime of struggle and difficulty, she was resilient being full of love and joy and silliness. Connie was a beloved mother, grandma, nana, great-grandma, sister, auntie, cousin and friend. She loved Christmas, hummingbirds, angels, glitter and confetti. She loved a good pun, a good harmless prank, and her laugh was contagious and unforgettable. Gone far too soon, our world has lost some of its sparkle. Connie was incredibly proud of both of her kids and all of her grandkids and great-grandkids and each of them brought her so much joy. Connie is survived by her loving family: son, Ken (Lana); daughter, Dianna (Peter); sister, Sandi; grandchildren, Jesse (Julianna), Araya (Matt), Larry (Sydney), Nathaniel and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Mackenzie; numerous nieces and nephews; countless “kids” across two provinces that called her mom as well as friends and family members touched by her presence in their lives. The family would like to give their immense gratitude to the ICU doctors and nurses and respiratory therapists that cared for her, as well as Pastor Andreas for supporting her and her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when all of her kids, grandkids and other loved ones can gather and honour her. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honoured if donations were made directly to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, any supportive cancer care agency, any single parents resource centre, or the BC children’s Hospital – all causes and foundations which were close to her heart.
