He is also survived by Jack’s family and sisters by choice, Margaret Anne (Calvin) Olson and Darlene (Dan) Macleod as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cliff was predeceased by his parents, Morris and Margaret Elgie; son, Brian Elgie; grandson, Austin Elgie; brothers, Norman Elgie and Ed Elgie; sister-in-law, Shirley Elgie; brother-in-law, Lorne Kvale; in-laws, Tom and Grace Kvale; motherly figure, Anne Hayden and siblings by choice, Brian Hayden, Shari Smith and Wayne Hayden. Cliff ‘Moose’ was that person who liked being around family and close friends. For many years, Moose was a very hard worker, doing many jobs which included alot of oilfield jobs from rigs to dispatching, driller, water hauler, Moose’s Tires and Joyline. He liked get togethers, family reunions and enjoyed being involved in games played at family functions. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, singing, playing guitar, hunting, playing cards, gambling, eating Chinese food, helping Jack on the farm, playing horseshoes, sitting around the campfire, listening to music, having a Kokanee and spending time with grandkids. Many of Moose’s most memorable occasions came after his children and grandchildren were born, including taking Cody hunting for the first time, nieces and nephews weddings, BC trips, fishing trips, lunchdates with kids, grandkids and family members as he always wanted to know how everyone was doing. He loved watching his kids play hockey, he even coached! Over the last few years, Moose’s health deteriorated and a year ago, he moved into a facility which he seemed to enjoy. A recent fall put him in the hospital where he suffered a massive head injury and was diagnosed with dementia. Moose spent the last seven weeks surrounded by his family and friends. The family will be forever grateful for the care he received during his stay on 2 North at the hospital. While surrounded by his family and while listening to his favourite songs, they were all able to say good-bye. Moose passed away peacefully with his two favourite guys, Robin and Cody, holding onto him. He will always be remembered by the name “Moose”. A Celebration of Moose’s life will be held at the Union Hall, 2055 Saamis Drive N.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, Crematorium & Reception Facility, Medicine Hat, Alberta.
