Clarence Roth of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Marlene Roth, passed away peacefully March 7, 2024, at the age of 91 years. Clarence was born in a small farmhouse near Irvine, to Henry and Olinda Roth. He was the eldest son of six siblings and went to school in the Thelma district, up on “the Bench” where his parents ranched. He married Marlene Wirsch on August 31, 1962. Clarence continued to work on his parents’ ranch until they purchased their own farm west of Irvine. They welcomed two sons into their family, Garry and Dale. For over 30 years, Clarence farmed and drove a school bus for the Irvine School. In 1999, Clarence and Marlene sold the farm and moved into Medicine Hat. Clarence was a dedicated member of Southview Church of God, serving on various boards and committees, ushering, running sound, and any other area where he was needed. He was honoured with a plaque acknowledging his many years of service. He is survived by his loving wife Marlene, his children Garry Roth (Lois), and Dale Roth (Lisa), grandchildren Carbry, Brandon, Mackenzie, Tobi, and Rebecca, sister Jane Grubel, and brother Norman Roth (Marie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. He is predeceased by his parents, his parents in-law, sisters, Violet Tschritter (Edmond) and Rachel Wirsch (Roy) and brother, Melvin Roth (Darlene) and brothers-in-law Dixon Rath and Ralph Grubel. A Celebration of Life will be held at Southview Community Church (2366 Southview Dr SE) on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor James Mack and Pastor Andreas Striefler officiating.
