Mr. Chris Rowan, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Rowan, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at the age of 79 years. Chris was born on May 25, 1940 at the Red Cross Outpost Hospital at Shand Creek, Saskatchewan, and raised on the family farm near Carragana, Saskatchewan. As a young man at fourteen years of age, Chris left home to become a hired hand at a neighbours farm. At the age of 16, he started a career in sales by selling books and magazines. He met Barbara Armstrong in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan and they were later married in July of 1959. They had their first child in 1960, a daughter they named Roxanne. A short time later, the family moved to Calgary where Chris’ next job was with Union Milk. It was there that Rick, Roy and Rhonda were added to their family. In 1978, the family moved to Brooks with Chris working for Old Dutch Foods. He later transferred to Lethbridge where he accepted a position with Murray Petroleum. Throughout his life and all his pursuits, Chris was a truly gifted salesman. Upon retirement, he moved to Medicine Hat where he met and later married Dorothy Reiman. Chris is survived by his brothers, Gordon (Zinnia) Rowan, Alan (Marge) Rowan and Dan Rowan as well as his first wife, Barbara Armstrong and friend, Beverly Boylan. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of his children, Roxanne (Wes) Wright, Rick (Michelle) Rowan, Roy (Gillian) Rowan and Rhonda Rowan as well as their families, numerous extended family and many special friends. Along with his wife Dorothy, Chris was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Lucy Rowan and brothers, Terrance and Barry Rowan.
