Christopher Getz of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the age of 89 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his nieces and nephews, Linda Warberg (Ray Robidoux), Shirley Aldred (Armand), Jim Getz (Elaine), Wayne Getz (Laureen), Brian Getz (Sharon) all of Medicine Hat, Sharon Wells (Dennis Hunt) of Bassano, Brenda Neufeld (Carl) of Victoria and Florence Pillar (Bruce) of Kelowna as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Perpetua and Joseph Getz; five brothers, John, Phillip, Joseph, Frank an Peter and one sister Mary Anne Wells. Christopher was born on May 20, 1932 in Medicine Hat and grew up in the Leader area and later moved to Patricia, then Buffalo. Chris and his brothers, Peter and Frank farmed together in Buffalo until they retired to Medicine Hat. They were known as the Getz brothers. “The boys” moved to Cypress View Foundation where they enjoyed their golden years. After Frank and Pete passed away Chris moved to Good Samaritans for more care. Chris embraced his life and family. He always kept his simple country values, had a ready smile, and was eternally optimistic. His family would like to thank Cypress View and Good Samaritans for the care of the Getz brothers over the years. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Due to the restrictions brought forward by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, indoor public gatherings are to be kept to 50 people. Masks are mandatory. Restrictions are applicable for prayers and the funeral mass. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
