Celia Harris
1928 ~ 2018
Mrs. Celia Josephine Harris beloved wife of the late Mr. Ronald Harris, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, just shy of her 90th birthday. Celia was born in London, England on June 16, 1928, a daughter to Christopher and Mary Byron. She was one of nine children. At the age of 17, she met and married a Private in the Canadian Army, Ron Harris. Together they travelled to the Peace River area in Northern Alberta where they farmed and their three children were born, Ronald Jr. in 1947, Maureen in 1949 and Barry in 1951. They left the farm when Ron went to manage the grain elevator and later went into business in the Esso service station in High Prairie where they resided until their retirement. Celia and Ron enjoyed living in Chilliwack and Kelowna before settling in Medicine Hat where they enjoyed family. Following the passing of her husband, Ron in 2010, Celia remained independent in her own home enjoying her outings everyday with her daughter and granddaughter. She loved family get-togethers, Saturday noon lunches and gatherings at the Casino with new found friends. Celia will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ronald Jr. (Cheryl) Harris, Maureen (Dennis) Basarab and Barry (Judy) Harris; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. In honour of Celia’s wishes, her life will be silently remembered without the proceedings of a formal service. A family celebration of Celia’s life will be held at a later date. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is
