Catherine Theresa Miller of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at the age of 100 years and 4 1/2 months, beloved wife of the late David F. Miller. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Rose (Victor) Scharff, and Don (Maryanne) Miller all of Medicine Hat; her daughter-in-law Josephine Miller of Medicine Hat; her grandchildren, Rick (Cheryl) Scharff, Charlene (Joe) Litowsky, Corinne (Pat) Feasey, Jim Miller, and Colin Miller (Renee Dube); nine great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren; her sisters, Tillie Sautner and Flora Osterman as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Hilarius Mardian; her husband David F. Miller on August 5, 1999; her son Frank Miller on March 8, 2009; three brothers, John, Tony and Louie Mardian; four sisters, Margaret Drescher, Susie Guy, Rose Fischer and Baby Rosie in infancy. Catherine, the eldest of ten children, was born on the family farm at Krasna, Saskatchewan on August 13, 1918. She was raised in the Prelate district and worked as a cook and housekeeper in the Eston, Leader and Lancer areas and then became a cook at the hospital in Prelate. Catherine married David on August 9, 1943 in Prelate. They moved to Taber and Catherine worked in the sugarbeet factory for five years. They then moved to Medicine Hat where she worked at the Glass Factory and later became a cook and waitress at the Husky. She also babysat while raising her family. Catherine enjoyed her big garden, crocheting, bowling, camping, dancing, playing cards and baking. She was a long time member of the CWL. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Vijaya Bathineni celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
