Carol Joyce Lautermilch passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the age of 82 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alvin in 2020; beloved daughter, Lana born 1978; younger sister, Judy and her brother, Howard. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Grace; step- daughter, Carolyn; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren as well as extended family and friends who will miss her deeply. Carol was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on October 29, 1943. She graduated with a diploma in psychiatric nursing in 1965 and went on to dedicate many years of compassionate service to the field of psychiatric nursing. Carol retired in 1994 after a long and meaningful career caring for others with kindness and professionalism. Outside of her career, Carol enjoyed traveling and expressing her creativity through home crafts, especially quilting. Over her lifetime, she lovingly created more than 90 quilts, each reflecting her patience, generosity and artistic spirit. Carol will be remembered as a caring and thoughtful person whose positive outlook on life touched everyone who knew her. Her warmth, compassion and quiet strength will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever. A private time of remembrance will be held honouring Carol’s life.
