Carmen Smith
1942 ~ 2024
Carmen Veronica Smith was born in Calgary on July 5, 1942, to Hugh and Bessie Smith and passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the age of 81 years. Carmen enjoyed many great adventures with her first husband, William (Bill) Lewinske, as they motorcycled across Canada and the United States. They divorced in 1986. Her adventures didn’t stop there though as she continued to travel around the US with her partner, Don Sorensen until settling down in Creston, BC. Carmen created beautiful pictures by needlework and cross-stitch. She loved to knit and thankfully most of the members of her family have at least one pair of gorgeous socks to remember her by. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in growing beautiful roses and not having a single weed competing with her flowers. Carmen is survived by her two daughters, Brandi Lewinske and Tannis Lewinske; her grandchildren, Jessie Lewinske-Jones and Bronte Lewinske as well as her beloved mini Dachshund, Bella. Dignified cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in her honour at a later date.
