May 22, 1949 ~ January 14, 2025
Bruce Allan Harty, beloved husband of the late Kathleen Harty, passed away at AgeCare Riverview in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the age of 75 years. Left to carry on his legacy are his three sons, Robert (Melanie), Neal (Lisa) and Daniel; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Jessica), Angelina, Stephanie, Cassidy and Emma; three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Sophia and Grace; siblings, Richard (Gladys), Ron and Les (Anne); brother-in-law, Elmer; sister-in-law, Joanne as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with Kathleen, Bruce was predeceased by his grandsons, James and Ben; siblings, Mike and Marjorie and sister-in-law, Bernice. Born in Lethbridge on May 22, 1949, Bruce was raised on the family homestead near Hoping, Alberta, and attended high school in Medicine Hat. After moving to Calgary and working as a carpenter, Bruce met Kathleen, and together they built a beautiful life. They were truly joined at the heart and soul; taking care of each other through all the hardships that life threw at them. Bruce has been waiting patiently to be with Kathleen again. They eventually settled on a farm south of Nemiscam, where they raised three sons and lived a life surrounded by the joys of farming and family. Later, the family moved to an irrigation farm near Seven Persons, where Bruce pursued his hobby of raising miniature horses. In the early 2000s, Bruce and Kathleen moved into Medicine Hat, where Bruce worked as a partsman until his retirement. During their retirement years, Bruce and Kathleen enjoyed walking their dog, playing cards, gardening, fishing, and spending quality time with their family. Bruce’s love for animals, especially dogs and horses, was evident throughout his life. His passion for camping, fishing, family vacations, and playing cards with friends and loved ones created cherished memories. Bruce is remembered by everyone he met as a friendly and genuine man who was easy to get along with and brought joy to those around him. He was a great husband and father and always worked hard to ensure his family had everything they needed. Most importantly, he set such a great example for his sons to follow on how to be a good man. In all the years, his family has only ever heard from anyone who knew him, how good of a man he was (neighbour, co-worker, friends, etc). The family would like to thank the staff at AgeCare Riverview for their care that they provided to Bruce during his stay there.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Roque Pereira celebrant.
