With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Brigitte “Moose” Bellerose of Halifax on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at the age of 53 years. She leaves behind her beloved soulmate, Dennis Ledarney of Medicine Hat. She will be forever remembered lovingly by her daughter, Samantha Finch (Ryan Marriott), her mother, Nancy Bellerose, her sister Julie O’Grady (Gordie) and her niece and nephews, Natalie, Daniel and Alex O’Grady. She was predeceased by her father, Bernie Bellerose. She will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. Brigitte was born on January 26, 1964 in Sorel, Quebec. A precocious child, she grew up in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, with loving parents, Bernie and Nancy. She enjoyed majorettes, her motorcycle and spending time with friends. In 1979, the family moved to Deep Brook and opened a restaurant, The Hollow Spot, where they would pursue their love of food. In 1982 Brigitte moved to Medicine Hat, where she found the love of her life, Dennis. 26 years later, they would be reunited and eventually married. After returning to Nova Scotia, she married her first husband and gave birth to her only daughter, Samantha Finch in 1987. They moved to Mississauga and divorced not long after. Brigitte would stay on and complete her degree in Service and Hospitality at Sheridan College in 1993 making her daughter forever so very proud of her tenacity and hard work. She returned to Nova Scotia in 2001 and continued to work hard and touch the lives of those she met. In 2010 she and Dennis were reunited and in 2013, they returned to Medicine Hat where they lived happily together. She will be fondly remembered for her fiery spirit, kindness, work ethic and honesty. She loved animals and her dream was to one day have an animal sanctuary. For family and friends wishing to celebrate Brigitte’s life, a come and go celebration will be held at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Memorial gifts in Brigitte’s name may be made to the S.P.C.A. – 55 Southwest Drive SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 8E8.
