Bill Yeast
1954 ~ 2025
William “Bill” George Yeast passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the age of 70 years. He leaves to cherish his wife, Shannon; son, Jordan; daughter, Michelle (Tony) Armstrong and the greatest loves of his life, his granddaughters, Sienna and Madison Armstrong. Bill’s passing also leaves a void in the hearts of his sisters, Brenda (Ivan) Moser and Cindy Hehr; sisters- in-law, Lyndy Yeast, Renee (Jim) Sietz and Marcella Dola; brothers-in-law, Darrel (Terry) Dola and Dale Dola as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Eva; siblings, Alice, Gerald and Tim; brother-in-law, Glenn Hehr and by Shannon’s parents, Henry and Rose Dola. Bill grew up and received his schooling in Portreeve, Saskatchewan playing hockey, baseball and taking part in the small town shenanigans. The family moved to Medicine Hat in 1969 and Bill completed grade 12 at McCoy High School. Bill and Shannon were married on August 25, 1979 and recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. They welcomed Jordan and Michelle into their lives and Bill was on the sidelines cheering them on at the bowling alley, ball diamond and volleyball and basketball courts. Bill worked at various jobs before embarking on a very rewarding career as a journeyman electrician. He loved his job at the Catholic Board of Education as Maintenance Electrician; a position he held for 23 years. During retirement he enjoyed keeping his yard immaculate; which took him twice as long to complete because of the lengthy fence visits he had with his neighbors and people stopping in to chat when they saw him outside. He loved to chat! He and Shannon enjoyed traveling and their most memorable trips included China, Maui, Israel and Europe. They enjoyed a Panama Canal cruise last year to celebrate his 70th birthday and they recently visited Las Vegas in January of this year. Bill was an avid sports fan but especially loved the game of hockey. He was a 50 year season ticket holder for the Medicine Hat Tigers and rarely missed a game. He made many good friends over the years at the old Arena and Co-op place and loved to talk hockey to anyone. He was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and was fortunate to see them play in person several times over the years. Bill’s greatest accomplishments in life were his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, Father, grandfather (papa), uncle and friend. We will miss his sense of humor, dry wit and calming presence. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the 911 dispatcher, Emergency Medical team and MHPS that responded to our call. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant.
