Bill was born in Holland on January 3, 1928, a son to Dirk and Anna Hoetmer. He was raised on a dairy farm and furthered his knowledge by attending agriculture school. On March 6, 1953 he married Annie Pater at the Christian Reformed Church in Taber. Bill was a farmer through and through – Dairy in the early years and in the later years, it was beef cows and grain farming. Growing up on the farm instilled a strong work ethic and developed Bill into a hardworking man. Besides being hardworking, he was also a kind, caring man with a very strong faith in God. He was a devoted member of the Christian Reformed Church and HIS FAITH ALWAYS CAME FIRST. Bill enjoyed coin collecting, watching Tiger hockey games and Hockey Night In Canada, teaching catechism and his time as a member of the Friendship Club. He was a wonderful man who was well liked and made many friendships throughout Canada and the USA. We wish to say “Thank You” to nurses and staff of South Country Village, Dr. Monty for all his great care and to Ian for his dedication and visits.
Bill’s memory will be cherished by his children, Alida Hoetmer (John Elliot), Pauline (Harvey) Hieb, Anna and Steve Clark, Alice and David Rabb, Stan and Shirl Bosma and Isobel Summerbell (Geo); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Crystal Mamm (Scott) – Ricki-Ann; Dustin Mamm (Tara) – Kai; Kyle Hoetmer (Cam); Luke (Brooklyn) Froelich – Crew; Jason (Nicole) Hoetmer – Brooklynn and Graeham; Michael (Taylor) Hoetmer – Bradley, Connor and Elliot; Tanya Froelich; Brianne Froehlich (Wayne) and great-grandchildren, Pheonix and Austyn.
