Mrs. Dorothy Bernice Learmont passed away peacefully at her residence in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the age of 73 years. Left to cherish Bernice’s memory are her 4 children, Carol Friesen, John Learmont, Shelly Guinn and Craig Learmont; the father to her children, Ron Learmont; 12 grandchildren, Janessa Friesen, Michelle Friesen, Emily Leedham, Victoria Leslie, Benson Guinn, Melissa Learmont, Nathan Learmont, Eric Learmont, Kyle Learmont, Lynae Learmont, Alison Learmont and Jamie Learmont. Bernice will also be lovingly remembered in the hearts of her siblings, Lloyd Waddell, Joyce Gilmore, Marie Mitchell, Jim Waddell and Brian Waddell. She was predeceased by her parents, Al and Hazel Waddell. Bernice was born in Regina, Saskatchewan to proud parents, Al and Hazel Waddell on December 16, 1943. She enjoyed life in the Medicine Hat Community and was an active member of the River Valley Community Church for the past 8 years. Bernice also belonged to a local artist group and enjoyed painting with water color and oil as well as pen and ink. Her artistic skills were recognized when she won honourable mention at the Medicine Hat Stampede for her painting of her childhood farm. Spending time on that farm with her Grandma and Grandpa as well as time with family at Emma Lake, SK., were often recounted as some of her favorite memories. Bernice always had a hug ready for whoever needed it. Her caring personality and love for laughter will not soon be forgotten. A celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at River Valley Community Church (formerly Christ the King Assembly), 1101 Queen Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Borrows officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow in the Church Hall with Private Interment thereafter.
