Barrie "Bear" Schnell

Barrie “Bear” Martin Schnell passed away on May 7, 2020 at the age of 67 years. He was the beloved husband of Debbie for 43 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his son Jamie Schnell; siblings Linda (Reg) Jackson, Bonita (Richard) Lewandowski, Keith (Judy) Schnell, Bryan (Heather) Schnell, Donna Bertrand, Steven (Wendy) Schnell, Mark Schnell, Arnold Schnell and Murray Schnell; as well as sisters-in-laws Sherry (Randy) Biko, Cindy (Morley) Arnott, brothers-in-laws Cal (Shelly) Jacober, Blair (Lisa) Jacober, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Kasmer Schnell; his sister Debra Klettke; his in-laws Lawrence and Bernice Jacober; and nephew Taylor Arnott. Barrie spent his first 14 years on the family farm in Torquay, Saskatchewan until moving to Medicine Hat. He was employed at Methanex Corporation, Provident Energy Ltd., Flint Energy, Octane Energy and Western Co-operative Fertilizers Ltd. as a maintenance planner, quality control inspector, and journeyman steamfitter until his retirement. Barrie loved cooking, grocery shopping, gardening and enjoyed giving the fruits of his labor away to the people around him. He liked to tinker around in the garage, go fishing and camping. His favorite place to get away was Elkwater. He loved to brag to the people around him about his son Jamie and how proud he was of him. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Scooby. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Barrie’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. At his request, there will be no funeral services.
