With heavy hearts the family of Arlene Elaine Wandler, beloved wife of Edwin ‘Ed’ Wandler, announces her peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the age of 80 years.

Born March 27, 1943, in Ponteix, SK, to George and Alice Smith, Arlene grew up and attended school in the community of Reliance, Sask. After High school, she attended Phillips Beauty College in Regina. She was a phenomenal hairdresser, owning and operating her own salon for many years. On July 8, 2000, she married Ed Wandler in Swift Current, Sask, where they lived for many years until they moved to Medicine Hat in 2012. Arlene was deeply loved by all her family and friends, known as a kind and compassionate person with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a woman of considerable integrity, honesty and strength. Arlene was predeceased by her parents, George and Alice Smith; brother, Allen and sister, Lori. She is survived by her loving husband, Ed; stepdaughters, Tiffeny and Tera-Lee; grandchildren, Jayna and Nole; sister, Joyce (Roy), brothers, Wayne, John (Kate) and Richard (Brenda) as well as many nieces, nephews, great and great-grandnieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road SE, Medicine Hat on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant.
