1958 ~ Tony Caixeiro ~ 2020
The family of Antonio “Tony” Carlos Mendes Caixeiro sadly announce his sudden passing on Thursday May 21, 2020. He will be deeply missed by his wife Karen; his children, Angelina (Matthew), Carly (Derrick) and David. He leaves his mother Fernanda Caixeiro, one brother Bill (Nicole) Caixeiro, two sisters, Vitalina (Tony) Ferreira and Laurinda (Sean) Donaghey, sister-in-law Barbara (Jeff) Braid as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony was born in Portugal and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of seven, where he spent his childhood working hard on the family farm in Harrow, Ontario. After receiving his bachelor of science at the University of Western Ontario, Tony moved to Saskatoon to pursue a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Saskatchewan. Tony and Karen (Shmigelsky) were married in 1986 and in 1989 relocated to Medicine Hat to begin his career at Crestwood Pharmacy. The following thirty years were filled with raising three wonderful children and making new friends. From the moment he became a father his life revolved around his kid’s education and sporting activities including coaching soccer, a sport he had loved from the earliest days of his childhood. He enjoyed planning and leading many family adventures and travels, all of which he meticulously recorded and documented, something that we will all cherish as we continue our journey. In 2005, Tony and Karen assumed ownership of Crestwood Pharmacy, where Tony continued to demonstrate his passion for serving others. His quiet demeanor and soft spoken ways were greatly appreciated by those he served and who looked to him for care and comfort. Throughout his life as a loving husband and father he showed us the importance of valuing family, integrity and always being the best version of yourself. It was just recently that Tony began to find time to enjoy many of his other passions like gardening, the culinary arts, and planning the next travel adventure. He never lost his passion for saving anything and everything with meaning or memory, and documenting important moments in life. Throughout his years in Medicine Hat his family was his life, and each and every moment with them will be forever cherished.
A private family mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish on Tuesday May 26, 2020. A Celebration of his Life will be announced at a later date. Those who wish to send a message of condolence may do so to office@pattisonfuneralhome.com subject heading: Tony Caixeiro.
