Anton ‘Tony’ Ekl
1933 – 2022
It is with a heavy heart that Marianne announces the passing of her beloved husband of 64 years, Anton ‘Tony’ Ekl. He passed away peacefully at South Country Village in Medicine Hat on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the age of 88 years. Tony leaves behind to cherish his memory, sons: Anthony “Tony” (Lucy) Ekl, Michael (Angela) Ekl, and Hubert Ekl; grandchildren, Chelsea Marie Lavoie (nee Ekl), Nick Anthony Ekl, Kennedy Ekl, Taylor Ekl, Justina Ekl and Jordan Ekl; great-granddaughters, Skyler Ekl and Charlotte Ekl as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was born on May 26, 1933, in Hamburg, Germany to Hubert and Paula Ekl (nee Schmidt). He was a devout follower of the Roman Catholic faith all of his life. Tony was a member of the Pipefitter’s Union since 1969. He had many hobbies including oil painting and playing the accordion but his greatest joy was being a devoted husband and father. Tony’s memory will be silently remembered by family and friends without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
