Anna Salik
1945 – 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Salik of Medicine Hat on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the age of 80 years old. Anna leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Debbie (Ernie) Hagemeister, Shelly (Darrell) Drefs, and Melissa Meier; several grandchildren Shannan (Kyle) Salm, Rachael (Jake) McRobbie, Nathan Seefried, Joshua Drefs (Amy Getz), Brennan Meier, and Kaden Meier; siblings Ben Hermann, Renee (Terry) Courts, Pete (Myrna) Hermann, Joe (Nadine) Hermann and in-laws Linda Hermann, Carol Salik, and Brian (Gail) Salik. Anna was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Allan Salik, her mother Monica Hermann and father Fritz Pfleiderer, in-laws Walter and Mary Salik, grandson Piercen Meier, and numerous siblings. Anna was born on December 3, 1945 in Allkofen, Germany. She married Allan Salik in 1971 where they remained happily in love until the day he passed. Anna’s greatest joy was spending time with family and loved ones, particularly her grandchildren. She was often seen playing Yahtzee and bingo, listening to classic country music, appreciating gardening and flowers, and walking around with her walker, which she playfully named her ‘hot rod’. Anna loved a good cup of coffee and couldn’t be without her daily ice cream cone. She greatly enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, having devoted herself as a happy homemaker to raise her children. Anna was a woman of great faith and was a beautiful soul with a kind heart and great sense of humour, resulting in lots of laughter and joy for her family and friends. Anna spent the last few months living in South Country Village, where she made many wonderful friendships. The family extends their sincere gratitude to all who provided support, care, and kindness. Special thank you and appreciation to Dr. Monty, Dr. Osborne, and ER physician Dr. Sameshima for their kindness and compassion, as well as the nursing staff at South Country Village and St. Joseph’s Home. She will be missed more than words can say and forever in our hearts. We love you always and forever!
