Anna Laverne Christianson
December 27, 1928 ~ August 15, 2017
Anna was born to Lex and Olive Metcalfe of Manitou, Manitoba. She married Laverne Christianson, March 8, 1947. Anna and Laverne had a family of four children whom she is survived by James (Barbara) Christianson, their children, Jennifer and Elmer Gomes, Kelly and Dave Ouellette, Tim and Lyndsay Christianson. Ronald (Darlene) Christianson, their children, Dale and Tina Christianson, Kim and Brian Arseneault, Karen and Justin Steele, Cory and Billi-Jean Christianson. Gwen (Ron) McMorris, their children, Ryan and Alli McMorris, Jonathan McMorris. Catherine (Jeff) Beane, her children, Christopher Barnesky, Brian and Ashley Barnesky and Michael Barnesky. She is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved each dearly. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her parents, Lex and Olive Metcalfe, and one brother, James Metcalfe. Anna lived most of her adult life in the Brandon area. Anna and Laverne owned and the log Cabin Service Station at the junction of Highways 2 &10 for 10 years. Then retired to Carroll. After the passing of Laverne, she moved to Brandon, later to Winnipeg and then to Medicine Hat to be with her family. Anna had a deep faith in God and the power of prayer. She did pastoral care for the United Church in Brandon. Anna also had a passion to knit which she did faithfully, making sure everyone in the family had face cloths, dish cloths and pot holders for every Christmas. She has completed these for this Christmas already. She also knitted many afghans for every family member. Mom / Gramma passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Medicine Hat Hospital. A viewing will take place on Friday August 18 between 2-4 PM at Cooks Southland Funeral Home in Medicine Hat, AB. Anna will be laid to rest beside her loving husband, Laverne on August 21, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Carroll Cemetery in Carroll, MB. Please Remember Always to be Humble and Kind.
