Ann Rodermond
1941 – 2023
Ann (Antje) Rodermond passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, surrounded by the love and presence of her beloved husband, Mark and many of her children. Left to cherish Ann’s memory are her children, Shirley (Micheal) den Ouden, Irene (Michael) Dykstra, Roger (Janice) Rodermond, Evelyn (Yvon) Blanchette, Bonita (Rodger) Talstra, Brian (Roxanne) Rodermond, Neil (Shihgee) Rodermond; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Klaas (Judy), Walter (Dora), Rob (Sarah) and Wilf (Helen) Craats will also remember her with love.
Ann was born in the Netherlands to Rinske and Cornelis ‘Casey’ Craats and moved to Canada in 1952. Originally immigrating to Redcliff, the family moved to Medicine Hat where she went to school and started work as a secretary before marrying the love of her life, Mark Rodermond. Together they raised 7 children in a happy but noisy home in Medicine Hat. Ann spent time working in the family-owned Home Hardware in Redcliff before retiring on a farm outside of town. Once she had more time to herself, she settled into some quieter, less-essential activities like Scrabble, sewing, reading, knitting and quilting.
Ann was a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church where she led and took part in so many activities (Sunday school, Calvinettes, Catechism, Coffee Break, knitting group among others).
Her last days with cancer were spent in the Carmel Hospice on Riverside and the family are so grateful for the care they gave her and everyone who spent time with her there.
A Celebration of Ann’s life will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 300 Primrose Drive S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George Koopmans officiating. The service will be live-streamed and can be accessed at medicinehatcrc.org. Private interment will take place at Redcliff Cemetery.
