Alma Wendt
1929 – 2022
Our dear, sweet Alma went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus on June 16, 2022, at the age of 92 (and a half) years. Alma leaves behind her siblings, Betty, Lilly, Helen, Wayne and Linda as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, Art and Lydia as well as her siblings, Loretta and Jim. Alma was always a hard worker and held various jobs throughout her life including working in greenhouses, Woolworths, Olds College, Banff Springs Hotel as well as Jasper and Waterton Parks. In 1971, she received her dream job with the City of Medicine Hat as a daycare/childcare worker. For someone who never had children of her own, Alma took to it like a duck to water! Over many years, she lovingly helped raise many kids and made lifelong friendships along the way. In 1997, Alma had a ‘career’ change when she began volunteering at M&M Meat Shops for her niece and nephew, Debbie and Jerry. Alma said she always imagined herself working in a store! She was very talented with her handywork skills, especially crocheting in which she gifted many family members and friends with her creations. She also loved to travel, golf and attend the Farmer’s Market. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Care Centre for being a safe and caring place for Alma. Most importantly, Linda and Gary Kinvig need to be thanked for all the years of care and friendship they provided to Alma. Without their love and support, Alma would not have been able to enjoy the quality of life she had for many years. Linda never wavered in visiting and helping Alma several days a week even as things got more difficult; God bless you! A Celebration of Alma’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, July 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Lynn McKinnon officiating. A time of fellowship will be held thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
