Alex McCuaig says he wants to bring his voice as a working parent from outside the education system to the Medicine Hat Public School Division board of trustees.

He says that voice represents the situation of the vast majority of parents in the public school system.

He says the current board has done an exceptional job, particularly with the challenges posed by the pandemic, but the job ahead will involve managing recovery from that and inevitable funding challenges.

McCuaig says his experience as a journalist in southeast Alberta for most of the past 14 years has made him fully aware of the issues facing the region.

He says his three years as chief of staff to Speaker of the Legislature Robert Wanner gave him valuable insight into provincial politics and decision-making.
