Albert John Kleckner
June 23rd, 1942 – August 30th, 2022
Albert John Kleckner entered this world on June 23, 1942, in Esk, Saskatchewan and left us on August 30, 2022, at the age of 80.
He spent his early years in Esk, surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins making incredible memories that created stories that he shared his entire life. He was known for his long, entertaining stories, some true, most not. The more they were repeated, the more colorful they became.
The Kleckner family moved to Medicine Hat when Al was a teenager. It was there that he became involved in his lifelong love of baseball. An avid, excellent player, he played on a plethora of teams throughout his life and passed on the love of the game to his sons and grandchildren.
Albert worked at Goodyear for a number of years and also at Klemm Electric. It was there that he was introduced to his trade of rewinding motors. He became a skilled technician and worked in that field for the rest of his career.
Al did not choose an easy life path to travel, but lived his life in the moment, leaving an impression wherever he went. A loyal friend, he was someone who would lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was like a cat with nine lives. Many times his body was broken and bruised, but he always recovered and kept on going.
His life choices took him to various locations but he returned to Medicine Hat and retired in Bow Island.
There, he once again made dear friends that he met every day at 3:00 pm to laugh, chat, discuss and solve the world’s problems over a cup of coffee.
He is survived by his children, Kevin (Jeana), Keith (Coralee), Kelly (Cyril Ell); 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his brother, Rod (Edna), sister Pat (Don Borrows); the mother of his children, Irene Kleckner; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents John & Esther Kleckner and his wife Louise Morin.
His life will be celebrated at a later time with his immediate family; gathering to remember and tell stories….. some true, most not.
A private family remembrance will be held at a later date. Condolences may be made at www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by GRACE MEMORIAL AFFORDABLE BURIAL & CREMATION 1924 10th Ave NW, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1C 1T5 403-905-0440 info@gracememorial.com.
