Adeline Helen Grona passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 18, 2019, at the age of 83 years, beloved wife of the late John Grona. Mom loved her big family very much, ensuring all gatherings were special celebrations. She even chose Family Day to start her next journey. She leaves to cherish her memory eight children, Rick Grona of Airdrie, Gerald Grona (Fiancé Doreen Belandres) of Squamish, B.C., Janice Picard of New Maryland, New Brunswick, Gladys (Kas Glowacki) of Medicine Hat, Audrey (Daryl) Veasey of White Rock, B.C., Gary (Bernice) Grona of Medicine Hat, Johnny (Char) Grona of Strathmore and David Grona of Medicine Hat; eleven grandchildren, Scott (Liz) Picard, Daniel Picard, Jordan Veasey, Jennifer Veasey, Sherry (Steve) Jackson, Dakota Grona, Christa Grona (Mike), Kayla Grona (Nathaniel), Morgan Grona, Davis Grona and Serina Grona; four great grandchildren; Finlay Veasey, Amelia, Eleanor and Ryan Jackson; four brothers, Florian (Charin) Nowakowski, Edmund (Irene) Nowakowski, David Nowakowski (Joan Glaister), Christopher (Gaetanne) Nowakowski; three sisters, Maryanne Kuzminski, Florence (Henry) Kereliuk and Christine (Walter) Godfrey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ben and Anne Nowakowski, her husband, John in 1977; her son, Kenneth Grona in infancy; her daughter-in-law, Patti Grona; her sister Gertrude Nowakowski, her brother, Leon Nowakowski; her grandson, Matthew Grona and her loving companion Francis Blaeser. The family would like to thank Mom’s caregivers at Good Samaritans – South Ridge Village for providing care, laughter and special friendships during her stay. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Daryl Veasey officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
