Medicine Hat woman arrested in Chestermere

CHESTERMERE, AB – A Medicine Hat woman is facing numerous charges after being arrested in Chestermere on Tuesday.

RCMP responded to a complaint regarding two individuals checking car door handles in the area of Oakmere Way at 2:20 a.m. While officers searched the area, one of the individuals was encountered, and they fled the area on foot. A man and a woman were later found in a vehicle parked in a nearby hotel.

While attempting to identify the man and woman, officers say they noticed discrepancies between the license plates and vehicles. The woman entered another parked vehicle to retrieve identification, while the male suspected allegedly attempted to flee, hitting a police vehicle, The collision disabled both vehicles and the male fled on foot. Police were unable to locate the man.

Police recovered a stolen vehicle, a falsified licence plate, a stolen licence plate, stolen property and illicit drugs.

Jennifer Rice-Durling, 33, of Medicine Hat was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a controlled substance, fraudulent concealment, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, utter forger document, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, mischief and four counts of failure to comply with recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Calgary Court on Thursday.

Police are looking a male offender between 5’8” and 5’10” in height, with a slender build. He has short dark hair, a fair complexion, some facial hair stubble and was wearing dark pants and a dark hoodie at the time of the incident.
