MEDICINE HAT — A change in the atmospheric flow is expected to push some of the thickest smoke out of our region today.

But Environment Canada says it could remain hazy into the Spectrum Weekend.

Most of Alberta is under a special air quality statement from Environment Canada because of the smoke drifting south from wildfires in Northern Alberta.

The smoke can cause increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.

People chronic breathing problems are particularly sensitive to the smoke.
