MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Tigers General Manager and Head Coach Shaun Clouston announced Friday the team has signed their 2019 first round bantam draft pick Oasiz Wiesblatt to a Standard WHL Player Agreement.

“We are very excited to welcome Oasiz and the Wiesblatt family to the Tigers Organization,” said Clouston. “His future is very bright and we look forward to working together to help Oasiz achieve his hockey goals.”

Oasiz posted 19 goals and 36 assists in 28 regular season games with the Calgary Bisons of the AMBHL.

Wiesblatt was also selected to the AMBHL All-Star game this past January, where he was outstanding and dominant against his peers, recording a hat-trick in a very close contest.

Tigers Director of Player Personnel Bobby Fox added “He has terrific vision, especially from the blue line in, he’s quick to process his surroundings, set up his teammates,” Fox said.“Oasiz has a good, hard shot and is a highly effective, highly skilled attacker that brings a lot of energy and has a tremendous compete level. We are very excited to see him in the Orange and Black.”

Fans can get a look at Oasiz and the next crop of Tigers this weekend as the Medicine Hat Tigers host their annual Orientation Camp.

All on ice activities take place at the Family Leisure Centre and are open to the public. A complete schedule can be found here.
