MEDICINE HAT, AB – Becky Martin and Mitch Bach have extended their respective leads atop the standings on moving day at the 64th annual Victoria Day Classic tournament.

Teeing off at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club on Sunday morning following a frost delay, Martin posted the top score in the ladies championship flight by a country mile with a 79.

Martin is on the right track for her fourth consecutive Victoria Day Classic title, as she holds an 18-stroke lead over Pat Hall for first place at 10-over par through two rounds.

She’ll be joined in the final grouping by Cathy Fisher and Stephania Duffee, who sit two and three strokes behind Hall for second place.

It’s a much tighter grouping on the men’s side, though as CHAT TV’s Bach holds a three-shot lead heading into Monday’s final round after shooting a three over, 75.

Jesse Florkowski had Sunday’s top round score of 73, however he fell just two shots short of being included in Monday’s championship flight and trails Bach by six shots.

Bach will be looking to fend off 2017 and 2018 champions in Ryan Werre and Dillon Batsel who are both tied at five-over par, while Mitch Kurtz will round out the group after shooting a 77 on Sunday and sits four shots back of the lead.

In the senior men’s flight, it will most likely be a two-horse race between Kelly Risling and Gary Kavanaugh to decide a 2019 champion.

Risling shot the lights out with a one-over, 73 on Sunday to jump past Kavanaugh into first place with a two-shot lead of 150.

Kavanaugh replicated his 76 from Saturday and currently sits with a score of 152 through two days, while third-place golfer John Wurtz sits 16 shots behind Risling for the overall lead.

Golfers will be split into two groups for a pair of shotgun starts on Monday, with the final round matches getting underway at 8:30 am and 1:30 pm.
