Food Truck Frenzy returns to the Gas City

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Today marked the first Food Truck Frenzy of 2019 and it couldn’t have landed on a more beautiful day.

The sun was shining and if you happened to be down wind from the Tourist Centre, you may have even smelt the scent of food being prepared by one of the eight-vendors.

Owner of KC’s Burger Kraze, Kendell Cornell, says with events like these, he hopes they can continue growing the food truck popularity in Medicine Hat.

“I believe we’re around 12 for the core group of food trucks in town,” explained Cornell. “We have a rotation on trucks here and there as we go. There is a good group of us and we’re a tight little community and just want to make everybody happy.”

Cornell says he has been operating KC’s since 2013, but the food truck industry has really exploded over the last few years.

“Looking around, they’re brighter, they’re flashier and there’s so much more variety for people to come out. Really, you’re going to a restaurant, you’re just going to a restaurant on wheels. You can come here and get something for everybody.”

And the reception from Hatters has been great.

“Street parking’s, these parking’s, I think people are pleased with it because people are coming, getting great quality food, decent prices and friendly service.”

And if you haven’t had the opportunity to check out the food trucks, Cornell says ‘don’t be afraid to’.

“We’re chefs and we want to be creative on our own and this is why we do it. I wouldn’t be afraid of it at all. Everything here is top quality.”

The Food Truck Frenzy takes place every Sunday at the Tourist Centre from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. depending on the weather.
