Man in custody after vehicle crashes through building in Edson

EDSON, AB - RCMP in Edson say they have a suspect in custody, after a vehicle was driven through the provincial building.

Officers were called to the scene Saturday around 9:30 a.m.

They say one man stole a vehicle from an ATCO Electric yard next to the provincial building, drove through the fence, through the east entrance to the provincial building, through the building and exited the west side of the building.

In addition to extensive building damage, police say Anti-Semitic messaging was written throughout the building.

The man was taken into custody just after 11:00 a.m and numerous charges are pending.

Officials say the matter is still under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
