Colts earn Friday split on diamond against Saskatchewan’s Notre Dame
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The latest tour through the ‘Gas City’ for Saskatchewan’s Notre Dame Hounds ended with a Friday night split with the Monsignor McCoy Colts on the diamond at Jeffries Park.
The Colts gave up 13 runs in the third inning alone in a 20-11 loss in league action to the Hounds in the opening tilt, before regrouping in the late game to pick up two points with a 16-10 win.
McCoy got off to a good start in the opening game with a 4-3 lead after two innings off a Reese Whelen RBI single, but things quickly fell apart for the Colts in the top of the third.
Taking advantage of a number of errors, the Hounds were able to convert six hits into a baker’s dozen runs to jump well into the lead 16-4.
