MEDICINE HAT, AB — Monsignor McCoy High School will play host to two new programs, including a baseball academy, in the fall

The school is partnering with the Alberta Sport Development Centre and Swanny’s Baseball and Training to offer a baseball academy and a fitness and performance course for the next school year.

The baseball academy will allow students to develop baseball specific skills, with programming from the academy being integrated into the school day. A release from the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education says it is two-semester course that will run one to two times per week, both on-campus and off-campus. Kyle Swannack, the baseball academy instructor, will work with the students

The fitness course is run by BJ Melle, and focuses on anatomy, physiology, physical and mental training, and nutrtition.

The programs will be paired with physical education, allowing students to earn high school credits, according to the Catholic Board.
