Cubs turn back the clock with return to black and orange look

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The new era for the Medicine Hat Cubs has a look familiar with long-time fans.

The team is returning to its roots with a return to an orange and black colour combination.

In a special presentation Tuesday night at the Comfort Inn, the Cubs unveiled a new logo, which features an orange tiger chomping down on the word ‘Cubs’.

A new uniform is expected to be released ahead of fall training camp in September.

The Cubs two most previous jerseys didn’t include the colour orange, which pays homage to the tradition of the team. The last two seasons featured a blue and silver look under the name Travelodge Cubs, similar to the Winnipeg Jets. Those jerseys replaced a black and silver combination.

The team also announced JD Gaetan will return as head coach for a fourth campaign, alongside assistant coach Steve Leipert.

Local products Mackenzie Fritzler and Mason Fischer have confirmed their intention to return to the Cubs for their overage campaigns. Bow Island’s Tristan Stensrud also plans to come back for a final season.

The Cubs fall training camp runs from Sept. 6-8 at the Kinplex.
