CALGARY, AB — The Calgary Police Service says they’ve located a pair of bodies they believe are a woman and child who have been missing since last month.

The bodies are believed to be of Jasmine Lovett, 25 and her 22-month-old daughter Aliyah Sanderson, and were discovered Monday morning in Kananaskis. They were located in a heavily wooded area near Grizzly Creek off Highway 40.

Autopsies are scheduled to begin Monday, and formal identification of the deceased will be done by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police say the cause of death for both victims is not expected to be released.

Lovett and Sanderson were last seen on April 16.

A suspect was taken into custody and charges are pending. Police say the suspect taken into custody is the same person who was arrested and released without charge two weeks ago.

During a news conference on Monday, Calgary Police say two charges of second-degree murder are pending.

The man’s name will be released once charges are officially sworn against him.
