Mobile mammography in Bow Island

Bow Island, AB- A mobile mammography trailer will be parked at the Bow Island provincial building from now until Saturday.

Alberta heath services has two of these mobile clinics to visit rural areas around the province.

The mobile clinic is complete with a reception area, dressing rooms, and an exam room and travels to about 120 communities throughout rural Alberta.

One in eight women in the province will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Screening mammograms can detect small tumours approximately 2-3 years before they can be felt and with regular screenings reduces death from breast cancer by up to 30%
