MEDICINE HAT, AB — Construction season is in full swing in Medicine Hat, with two major projects scheduled to get underway on Monday.

The city posted on its social media channels that work is set to begin on Dominion Street Southeast in the Flats.

According to the city, the project involves the installation of water and sewer mains in the 1100 block of the street. Intersection closures will take place at Washington Avenue Southeast and Minto Avenue Southeast as a result of the work. A fence will be placed around the perimeter of the construction site.

The city says water service and sewer services will remain operational in the area throughout the construction, with the exception of scheduled short duration interruptions and emergency activities.

It’s the second major project in the area of the Flats which gets underway on Monday.

Work on the Allowance Avenue overpass is also scheduled to begin Monday, reducing traffic to two lanes. The work is needed to replace a 105-year-old sewer main in the area.
