Calgary Police continue search in suspected double homicide

CALGARY, AB — The Calgary Police Service says they are continuing to search for evidence in the suspected homicides of a Calgary woman and her daughter.

Jasmine Lovett, 25, and her daughter Aliyah Sanderson, 22, were last seen on April 16, and the last activity on Lovett’s bank account was two days later. During a news conference on Thursday, Calgary police say they’re now treating the pair’s disappearance as a double homicide.

A suspect police arrested on Thursday has been released without charges being laid, however he remains the prime suspect in the case. Police cannot name the man as he has not been charged with a crime.

Investigators are focusing search efforts on the Bragg Creek area. They’re asking anyone who witnessed a Caucasian man in his mid-30s driving a grey, luxury SUV in the Bragg Creek and/or East Kananaskis area between Tuesday, April 16, and Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Police says the man may have been alone or with either of the victims, and may have been carrying mulch in his vehicle. Investigators specifically believe the man was in the Fullerton Loop/Elbow Falls area between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. on April 18.

Calgary Police are asking property owners in Bragg Creek to check their property and report anything suspicious, especially if new mulch has been dumped in the area.

Anyone with information about this case or who may have seen the grey SUV between those dates is asked to call the Calgary Police Service’s non-emergency hotline at 403-266-1234, the Homicide Tip Line at 403-428-8877, or Crime Stoppers.
