Former Tiger Jaeger White enjoying SAHA coaching role

IRVINE, AB — There’s no denying the connection between the Medicine Hat Tigers and South Alberta Hockey Academy.

Willie Desjardins, the founder of the academy, coached the Tigers to two WHL championships during his eight-season stay. In January, Emerson Etem, who scored 143 goals and 252 points wearing orange and black, took on a volunteer skills coaching role with SAHA.

Now the academy is adding even more Tigers blood into the mix.

Jaeger White, who played 68 games for the Tabbies in 2017-18, is joining Etem as an instructor for the summer.

The 21-year-old from Medicine Hat most recently wrapped up his WHL career with the Kootenay ICE last month.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports spoke to White to hear about his transition from a player to an instructor, whether he plans on playing competitively this fall, and what it’s like to coach alongside one of his childhood idols.
