Elections Alberta releases official results

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Elections Alberta has counted all of the ballots, and have released official results for the 2019 election.

According to the data, more Albertans than ever cast their ballots during this election, with a total of 1,905,520 votes cast across the province.

According to the official results, final voter turnout across Alberta was 64 per cent, lower than the 71 per cent previously projected in the unofficial results.

Elections Alberta says a record number of voters chose to vote in the advance polls, noting 36.7 per cent of voters cast their ballots using that option. They add of those who chose to vote in the advance poll, 31.8 per cent used the Vote Anywhere ballot, available for the first time this election.

The official results didn’t result in much change to the two local ridings.

Michaela Glasgo (UCP), who was elected in the Brooks-Medicine Hat riding, had 13,006 votes, five more than she had in the unofficial results.

Drew Barnes (UCP), elected in the Cypress-Medicine Hat for the third time, saw his vote total slightly decrease, from 16,528 in the unofficial results to 16,483 in the official results.
