MEDICINE HAT, AB — Three new names will be added to the wall of the Medicine Hat Sports Wall of Fame next month.

Dan Federkeil, Eva Paniti-Meyer and Kelly Risling will be recognized during a ceremony at the Family Leisure Centre on May 10.

The three were recommended by the urban environment and recreation advisory board in November, and the recommendations were approved by city council.

Federkeil played football locally and went on to a career as an offensive tackle in both the NFL (2006-2009) and CFL (2013-2018). During his career, he was part of the Indianapolis Colts’ Super-Bowl winning team in 2007, and won a Grey Cup with the Calgary Stampeders in 2014, making him one of the few football players to possess a Grey Cup and Super Bowl ring. He retired from football in 2018.

Paniti-Meyer has been the head coach with Salta Gymnastics since 1988, overseeing the daily operations of the club, and is active in the competitive and recreational programs. She was also a member of the Romanian Olympic Gymnastics Team in 1975 and 1976.

Risling, a local golfer, has won more tournaments out of anybody in Medicine Hat. He has won the Medicine Hat Amateur Championship 25 times, and has been club champion 29 times at Connaught, Desert Blume and the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club.

Recent inductees include hockey player Jenna Cunningham, figure skater Gay Dubeau, sport builder Dr. Ken Sauer and sportswriter Graham Kelly.

The induction ceremony takes place at 7 p.m.
