Redcliff RCMP phone line spoofed

REDCLIFF, AB. — Redcliff RCMP have become a victim of a spoofing.

The Southern Alberta Operational Communication centre started getting swamped with calls around 11 o’clock last night from residents of Redcliff reporting they’d missed a call from the Redcliff RCMP.

The number showing up is the Redcliff RCMP complaint line; if the call is answered nobody is on the other end and the line disconnects.

Mounties say if you do get a call from 403-548-2222 and nobody identifies themselves as an RCMP employee, it’s most likely your number was dialled by the spoofer.

Telus is working with the RCMP. Customers should report receiving a spoof call to 6-1-1 so Telus can attempt to track the source of the fake calls.
