Schedule for World Under-17 Hockey Challenge released

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The official tournament schedule and ticket package information for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge has been released by Hockey Canada

The tournament, which features some of the top young hockey players in the world, will be hosted in Swift Current and Medicine Hat from November 2-9. This is Medicine Hat’s first time hosting the event, while Swift Current last played host in 1998.

According to a news release on Tuesday, the tournament will begin with Team Canada Red taking on Russia on November 2 at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex in Swift Current, while Team Canada Black will take on Team Canada White at the Canalta Centre. Both games are at 7 p.m. Mountain Time.

The preliminary round will conclude November 5. The bronze and gold medal games will be played at the Canalta Centre on November 9. The bronze medal game will take place at 3 p.m., with the gold medal game at 7 p.m.

The release adds pre-tournament games will begin on October 31. Medicine Hat and Swift Current have been confirmed as two of the four locations for those games.

Early-bird ticket packages for the full event are available for Medicine Hat Tigers and Swift Current Broncos season ticket holders, as well as minor hockey teams in the nearby communities. Early bird pricing for the general public will go on sale from May 15-June 18 at hockeycanada.ca/tickets. Full pricing comes into effect on June 19.
