WINNIPEG — The 2018 season was another profitable one for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Bombers announced Tuesday they posted a profit of $2.6 million last season.

“We are pleased with our overall financial results for 2018,” president/CEO Wade Miller said in a statement. “These results are a testament to the strong support from our fans, season-ticket members, and corporate partners.

“Our team should be proud of our financial results.”

The Bombers had a profit of $5.1 million in 2017. However the club announced in its annual report that last year there were no other major events at Investors Group Field than the Manitoba Marathon.

Total operating revenue was $33.4 million, an increase of $970,000. Game revenue was down $1.4 million (10.5 per cent) as the Bombers didn’t host a 2018 home playoff game, while stadium management revenue decreased $1.8 million over 2017.

There was also a decrease of $830,000 in overall stadium occupancy costs with fewer non-football events at Investors Group Field.

Operating expenses totalled $30.8 million, an increase of $3.4 million, while overall football operations expenses were up by $470,000 with the Bombers playing in both the West semifinal and final.
